CALA believes the future of landscape architecture is rooted in how we inspire, guide, and support the next generation. Over the past few months, our team has connected with students through educational outreach that’s been both energizing and impactful, for them and for us. These moments give us a chance to share knowledge, gain fresh perspective, and reignite our own passion for the work.
UC Davis SCASLA Career Fair
Melissa: “It was a pleasure meeting such engaged students, whose thoughtful questions showed a real passion for the field and curiosity about firm culture and project work.”
Olivia: “As a recent UC Davis grad, it was especially fun to be back and connect with students from the program. Their excitement and curiosity about the profession were truly inspiring.”
Office Tour
We welcomed UC Davis students to our Gold River office. A post-tour Q&A sparked great conversations around internships, careers, and the future of the profession.
Portfolio Reviews
Ron: “It was an honor to help students refine their portfolios, highlighting their unique voices through compelling design. I once sat on the other side of that table, so giving back felt especially meaningful.”
Cal Poly SLO Senior Show Sponsorship
Brian: “CALA has long supported landscape architecture education, from high school through college. It’s vital we keep championing the profession and its potential to shape environmental and social outcomes. Supporting this year’s Cal Poly senior class was an extension of that mission.”
Mentorships
Izzy: “I’ve been mentoring Cal Poly SLO students, offering feedback on final projects and sharing my journey from intern to full-time designer. It’s been so rewarding.”
Dan: “Mentoring UC Davis seniors has been a great experience. Their passion is contagious, and I’m excited to see how they’ll push the profession forward.”
Internships [Click here for how to apply for our 2025 Summer Internship Program]
These efforts culminate in our internship program, which provides students with a hands-on experience that bridges the gap between classroom concepts and real-world application. Interns at CALA get the opportunity to work alongside our designers on meaningful projects, gaining insight, confidence, and valuable skills that help them launch their careers. By supporting students at every stage, we’re helping shape the future of landscape architecture, and we’re proud to play a part in that journey.
