Re-Dedicated & Refreshed

Alden E. Oliver Soccer Field

The Alden E. Oliver Soccer field turf replacement project is testament to what a ‘re’- dedicated community can achieve!  This field first came on-line in 2003 along with the rest of the park.  A first generation synthetic turf field, it was a ‘slit film’ field with SBR infill directly over a stone base.  Though it had performed admirably, it was 15 years old and definitely showing its age!  CALA prepared plans for a state-of-the-art replacement field with composite underlayment, a mix of slit film and monofilament turf, and an organic infill.

The field re-opened to the cheers of fans who showed up on a gorgeous late April morning.  It was this community of fans who made this project possible by voting for the passage of Hayward Area Recreation District (HARD) Measure F1 in 2016.  By passing that ballot measure by an overwhelming 79%, they voted with their pocketbooks.  The refreshed Alden E. Oliver soccer fields are just the first of many projects that HARD has in store.  We count ourselves lucky to have been able to help bring one of their first projects on-line!
