The success of the Centennial Way project demonstrates what can be accomplished with a neglected piece of urban infill when communities and government agencies collaborate.
When BART completed its extension from Colma to Millbrae, the swath of land above the system created an opportunity to create a multi-use bikeway and linear park connecting dozens of upper SF Peninsula neighborhoods. Callander Associates assisted the City of South San Francisco in obtaining the first of several MTC grants, which funded the initial public outreach program. Its success, along with the much-supported BART Linear Park Master Plan, provided the basis for multiple grant applications resulting in over $5M in federal grant funds. Our firm went on to provide full PS&Es for this award-winning project.
