The four segments of this trail totaling
1.2 miles serve to link three key areas of Half Moon Bay;
including the downtown, a shopping center, and a large neighborhood
south of Pilarcitos Creek. The alignment runs along the creek,
providing a multi-use trail joining destinations that were
once separated by the creek and Highway 1. The project includes
a 130 foot long pedestrian bridge, stormwater bio-retention
filtration system (of waters from two highways before entering
the creek), interpretive signage, and streamside revegetation
with plant materials native to the coastal San Mateo County
region. This project provides a needed safe link for the community
that is also environmentally responsible. |
