Sutter's Landing Park is a 172-acre
regional park developed on the closed 28th Street landfill
adjacent to the American River in Downtown Sacramento. Along
with an expert team of consultants, Callander Associates determined
the feasibility for reuse of the site, and turned it from
an old asphalt lot to a new park destination. The project
incorporates use of recycled material, reuse of an industrial
site, and stormwater quality improvements including: utilizing
bark mulch recycled from the City's tree clippings in the
dog park, and moving all stormwater through a filter fabric
and decomposed granite and into a series of subsurface drains
before it enters the storm system.
