As implied in the name, Orchard Park
is built upon historic agricultural land in the Natomas Community.
The park is bordered by new neighborhoods, a school, and a
waterway. All are wonderful opportunities to create and enhance
the "edges". Native plantings, riparian enhancements,
and water quality features blend the natural with more formal
park uses. Using grant funding to re-establish oaks and needle
grasses along the riparian edge, the City wanted to continue
using natives and drought tolerant plantings throughout the
park. Amenities of the park include: a bike trail along the
canal connecting to neighborhoods, a natural area with water
quality channel and plantings, lighted tennis courts, skate
park, baseball field, playground, and shaded picnic area.
