This streetscape renewal project included the design of pavement, planter strip, and irrigation improvements along a highly traveled portion of March Lane sidewalk that had been significantly damaged by the roots from planter strip trees. In coordination with a consulting arborist, Callander Associates developed a sidewalk cross section that would provide a safe, accessible pedestrian walkway without sacrificing any of the existing mature street trees. The long-term sustainability of both the trees and the sidewalk were a priority in the design process.
