Callander Associates worked with Dunmore Homes in the development of this gated community in Elk Grove, California. Callander Associates services included the complete landscape design of this mixed product community. In addition to two enhanced gated entries, three product model complexes, and the typical production unit front yards and streetscape; the Monterey Village landscape design incorporates several walkable "paseos", a pool complex with central park, and two smaller pocket parks. These additional public open spaces were designed as a means of offsetting the limited private space inherent to denser development.

The recently constructed model homes include a water conservation landscape. Callander Associates worked with the developer to use drought tolerant plant species, place minimal amounts of turf grass, and use a conservation irrigation system. Additionally, signage was designed to explain how the landscape used water conservation practices.
