Cahill Park is located in the center of three townhome developments by the Castle Group, Summerhill, and Avalon developers. To provide residents with a direct route to nearby mass transit facilities, a street segment was closed off and converted to a pedestrian paseo. The paseo connects residents to the major Caltrain Diridon Station while providing a shady seating area with direct views of the half-court basketball court and future playground area. A large open turf space provides opportunities for passive activities while large shrubs and an allee of flowering trees along the park’s perimeter path provides adjacent homes with additional privacy.

Sensitivity to edges allows for the successful integration of this phase of the park with the previously completed Phases 1 and 3. Careful coordination of utilities, materials, and uses will erase the existing phasing limits, providing a single, unified neighborhood park. Design themes that were carried throughout all the phases included use of a coordinating plant palette, street light standards, furnishings, and colored concrete pavement.
