Devany Square is a two-acre "neighborhood
square" park designed to serve the new, developing Dublin
Ranch community. With the completion of the adjacent multi-family
residential project, the City of Dublin selected Callander
Associates to develop conceptual designs and construction
documents. Through community feedback, the park amenities
were developed and integrated into a cohesive design.
The square consists of a central plaza backed by an arbor
to serve as a community stage, a small garden room to enjoy
flowering plants, and a play area for tots. The park’s
clear sight lines brings one’s eyes towards a central
plaza which features a stage with ground water jets imbedded
in a sandblasted labyrinth paving pattern, and informal turf
seating. The labyrinth theme is continued in the turf area
with an inset paver labyrinth. Callander Associates collaborated
with the City to decrease costs by reusing materials that
the City had on hand. Metal railings recycled from a previous
project were integrated into the arbor as decorative elements
as well as the pavers used for the turf labyrinth that the
City had readily available. |
