Callander Associates took this 5.8
acre neighborhood park from a community approved master plan
through construction documents. Early in the design development
process Callander worked with the City by presenting options
to accommodate an aggressive park program on a steeply sloped
site with extreme geotechnical conditions including shallow
bedrock. Ultimately, a strategy was presented to and accepted
by the City that addressed most of the park elements approved
during the community master planning process. The final park
design, which consists of play areas, a water feature, tennis
courts, soccer field, a California native planting area, a
dry creek bed, and a shade sail covered picnic plaza that
overlooks the valley below demonstrates no indication of compromise
from the original design. Callander Associates also assisted
the City by presenting several value engineering options that
ultimately helped to offset additional cost caused by the
topographic and geotechnical conditions of the site. |
