Completed in 2008, the rehabilitation
of Dover Neighborhood Park has made the park the jewel of
the neighborhood. Callander Associates has taken on the challenge
of balancing ongoing safety and maintenance issues of the
site amenities with the wants and needs of the City and neighbors.
Rehabilitation of the fishing ponds included: coordination
of regulatory requirements with the City Staff, Army Corps,
and environmental consultants; exploration of options for
slope stabilization; water quality; and addressing concerns
about public safety. Improvements include rehabilitating the
ponds, providing all weather concrete paths, updating the
safety lighting, adding cameras, rehabilitating an existing
shade shelter, adding a new toddler play structure, and providing
new site furnishings. Callander Associates assisted the City
in application for and award of a grant that provided additional
funding for the new toddler playground.
The project was recently recognized by the California Park
and Recreation Society with a planning award in 2009. |
