This 72 acre regional park is to be
developed on the closed 28th Street landfill adjacent to the
American River in Downtown Sacramento. This park has undergone
extensive facelifts over the one-hundred and sixty years since
its namesake, John A. Sutter landed at the northwest corner
of the park. Callander Associates along with an expert team
of consultants developed a Feasibility Report to determine
the feasibility of constructing park improvements on this
closed landfill. This study identifies from a technical and
economic standpoint what park improvements are recommended
for the different areas of the landfill and at what points
in time it is feasible to construct the various improvements,
as they relate to landfill integrity and compliance with closure
plans. The team worked closely with city staff and various
agencies to develop this report that will be the key tool
used in all future phases of the park development. |
