By working closely with School District staff, City staff, and the school’s architect, Callander Associates was able to successfully turn the Great Valley Elementary School Annex into a shared-use park facility. This design integrates the existing school and the adjacent City park into a large 15-acre facility, accessible to both the school and the surrounding community.

Security was the main focus of the program. A creative approach to fence design helped to address this by reducing the fence height, integrating it with the ballfield backstop, and concealing it behind a landform. This fenced-in multiuse field will provide safety for the students but will also remain open and inviting for park users.
