Hillcrest Circle Park
Building off the grass roots, neighborhood effort to regenerate their 0.4 acre park, Callander Associates creatively responded to user design participation. This hilltop tot lot park in San Carlos was selected by the California Parks and Recreation Society for a 2005 “Facility Design and Park Planning” award. The park was renovated through community input, citizen fundraising, and innovative planning. A wide range of neighborhood expectations were achieved and included removal of asphalt and nuisance trees, along with creative reuse of rolling topography into a blend of lawn, accessible play spaces, picnic areas, and strategically located plant materials.
