Southside Park Playground Master Plan approved   back | previous | next

On July 17th, 2003 The Sacramento City Council voted unanimously to approve the Southside Park Playground Master Plan. A first of its kind in Sacramento; this playground is devoted to challenging and providing extensive play opportunities for children of all abilities.

The Southside Park Playground is a new playground integrated into an existing historic park in downtown Sacramento. The master plan is the product of a public/private partnership between, Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region, The City of Sacramento, and United Cerebral Palsy of Sacramento working extensively with neighbors and the ADA community. The master plan contains 16,000 square feet of play area with a “Buck Rogers” Space Theme. Some play opportunities are:

  • Blast-Off Trail - textured pavement with sound activator
  • Asteroid Alley sand play with buried monsters
  • Play structures with ramps up to 5’ and slides up to 8’
  • Public art
