Visual Simulations   back

Sometimes, a picture really is worth a thousand words.

That saying holds true especially when trying to visualize design improvements on a site. No matter how eloquent words can be in describing the character and feeling of a space or structure, an image can do so much more. Callander Associates has the ability to employ a wide range of tools, such as high quality visual simulations, 3D modeling, and perspective renderings, to help our clients and the public visualize design concepts.

The following projects demonstrate the use of visual imagery to convey design concepts:

13th and 16th Street Regional Transit Stations  •   Sacramento, CA
Callander Associates is currently beginning the preliminary design phase, which includes a strong community outreach component, for the design of improvements at both the 13th Street and 16th Street regional transit stations. Proposed improvements for these stations include the installation of a new ADA compliant mini-high platform, custom designed shade shelters, kiosks, signage, lighting and landscape upgrades.
Proposal for 23rd Street Corridor Improvements  •   Richmond, CA
Callander Associates utilized graphic simulations and 3D modeling to help a potential client visualize the busy thoroughfare’s possibilities. Our firm utilized static and dynamic visual simulations to illustrate potential design opportunities and impacts on 23rd Street. The simulations depict scale, massing, perspective, texture, and progression.
Memorial Auditorium  •   Sacramento, CA
Callander Associates is working closely with the City of Sacramento, General Services and Convention, Culture and Leisure Department on the design for landscape improvements for the historic Memorial Auditorium site. Callander has designed and presented three improvement concepts that range from a “minimal level” that includes planting, irrigation and functional site improvements to an “expanded level” design that includes public plazas, a street-side drop-off area, a memorial tablet display, and streetscape improvements.
Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) Visual Simulations  •   Menlo Park, CA
Callander Associates provided visual simulations for POST's new direction in visual aids for their current campaign. The overall goal of this new direction was to be able to tell a story of how development would have occurred on the coast if not for POST’s protection of Cloverdale Ranch and Bolsa Point properties. The following images are before / after depictions of potential development.
Shoreline Hill Study  •   Mountain View, CA
To determine the feasibility of a sportsfield park for a 12.5 acre portion of Shoreline Regional Park, the City selected Callander Associates and their subconsultant team of civil and geotechnical engineers. Multiple athletic field concepts were prepared for the study and were designed incorporating geotechnical findings. One example of a graphic design tool used is the following “bird’s eye view” of the project.
